My child has tested positive for COVID 19
· Your child must isolate for 7 full days after they receive the results of the test that gave them the positive result
· Your child may return to school on Day 8 if they have no symptoms – sore throat, fever, runny nose or a cough that is bad or getting worse on Day 7 of their isolation. If your child still has these symptoms they will need to remain in isolation until these symptoms have gone away.
· If your child has a mild dry cough, mild fatigue or loss of taste or smell they do not need to continue to islolate after Day 7 and can return to school on Day 8
· Your child does not need to have another COVID 19 test before they return to school
What if my child is considered a Close Contact
· Your child would be considered a close contact if they have been with a person who has COVID for more than 4 hours in a house or other accommodation
· Your child must immediately quarantine for 7 full days from the date they last had contact with the person who has tested positive for COVID 19. If your child lives with that person that will usually be the same amount of time as their isolation
· If your child develops symptoms at any time over these 7 days they should get tested using a RAT kit or PCR test
· If your child has no symptoms they should be tested on Day 6 of their quarantine period. You can use a RAT kit or PCR test
· If your child’s test is negative and they have no COVID 19 symptoms on Day 7 of their quarantine period, they can return to school on Day 8
